# How is my Pro-Rata Bill Calculated?

## Pro rata billing is a way of calculating charges based on the exact amount of time you use a service.

Pro rata billing is a way of calculating charges based on the exact amount of time you use a service. Instead of paying for a full billing period, you only pay for the portion you actually use.

 For example, if your billing cycle is from the 1st to the 30th of the month, but you start your service on the 15th, you will only be charged for the remaining days in that month (15th to 30th), not the entire month.  
   
This ensures that you are only billed for the actual time you have access to the service, making it fair and accurate. Below is an image of a Pro rata billing invoice and the charge breakdown;  
   
**Summary of Total Charges:**  
   
Pro Rata Charges (21/04/2023 to 30/04/2023): R45.00  
Full Month Charges (01/05/2023 to 31/05/2023): R135.00  
Total Service Charges: R180.00
